Deduct your swimming pool (and more!) as medical expenses

January 1, 2015

When it comes to claiming legal tax deductions, your accountant can be your best friend.

But your doctor can be a great pal too if he or she suggests you buy certain equipment for your health. That’s right…

A swimming pool, ergonomic chair, elevator, and lots more can all be tax deductable if your doctor says you need them!

Want to find out more about how to take advantage of some huge tax breaks?

You’ll smile and say “ahhhhhh” when you read my new article titled Tax Tips: How to Deduct Your Swimming Pool and Other Home Improvements as Medical Expenses—All Legal If You Do It Right.

Three ways our fact-filled article can help you:

  1. We’ll tell you why you and your doctor can get along swimmingly. A pool you install for medical reasons could increase your tax deductions by $12,000 or more! Get all the details when you read the full article.
  2. You’ll learn about the many advantages of the medical-expense deduction. Good news! You can immediately deduct the capital expenditures you make for medical purposes. And there’s no recapture of these expenses in later years if your medical condition improves but you continue to use the pool or other asset. You’ll get the whole story when you read the full article.
  3.  We’ll explain the important 100% exception. The IRS allows a 100% deduction for medical expenditures that have little purpose outside of medical treatment. We’ll give you examples of qualifying expenditures when you read the full article.
