How to deduct your business motor home

May 1, 2016

Do you use a motor home for business?

Are you thinking of getting a motor home for business use?

Then you should know that some recent developments are working in your favor.

If you want to learn the best way to deduct business use of your motor home and stay in Uncle Sam’s good graces, take my advice.

Before you pack your bags and hit the road, read my new article titled Tax Tips: How to Deduct Your Business Motor Home?

Three ways our fact-filled article can help you:

  1. You’ll learn why you shouldn’t claim Section 179 expensing on your motor home. If you do, you can quickly become audit bait. The smart move is to stick with depreciation which grants you 71.2% of the deduction in the first three years! You’ll get all the details when you read the full article.
  2. We’ll explain why IRC Section 280 (f)(4) is so important. This section states that your use of the motor home for overnight business lodging produces business deductions for business travel (and that business travel is not subject to the vacation home rules). All will be explained when you read the full article.
  3. We’ll tell you how to create audit-proof mileage and night sleeping logs. Whether your deductions stand up to IRS scrutiny depends on the quality of your documentation. Mileage and night sleeping logs have to contain specific information. We’ll tell you exactly what IRS agents will expect you to produce when you read the full article.
