Beware of the stealth Alternative Minimum Tax

July 1, 2014

A stealth bomber is deadly because, thanks to its radar-defeating design, the enemy can’t see it coming.

That’s why the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) is often called a “stealth tax.” It’s a tax that you often don’t see coming until it’s too late!

Why is the AMT so dangerous? Why can it cause you such trouble when you want to change the way you do business or practice medicine?

You’ll find out when you read my new article titled Tax Tips: Sneaky AMT Bites Surgeon.

Three ways our fact-filled article can help you:

  1. We’ll explain how the AMT actually works. First, you complete a regular tax return following normal tax-law rules. Then you complete a one-page AMT form that taxes the deductions you claimed on your regular return. Talk about stealthy! You’ll get all the details when you read the full article.
  2. We’ll tell you about the important case of Dr. Elizabeth Vitarbo. The good doctor ran her practice as a solely-owned corporation. Then she made a change. She became an employee of an education institution. The result? Dr. Vitarbo got hit by the AMT and lost almost $20,000! You’ll get the whole sorry story when you read the full article.
  3. You’ll learn how to avoid devastating AMT problems. All it takes is some savvy tax planning. If you want to stay out of the IRS’s gun sights, you need to know the law. We’ll provide you with the information you need when you read the full article.
